Focus on the Family was founded in 1977.

The world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing and defending families worldwide, Focus on the Family was founded in 1977 in Arcadia, Calif. by family psychologist Dr. James C. Dobson. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., Focus on the Family is led by President and CEO Jim Daly and employs a staff of 1,300 people in the United States—including licensed family psychologists and counselors—as well as staff employed by partner offices around the globe.

Focus on the Family has a long tradition of using radio as a means to help families. Today, Focus on the Family-produced broadcasts have a combined reach of more than 220 million listeners daily in 155 countries.

Through innovative programs including How to Drug Proof Your Kids®, Focus on Your Child (a collection of parenting resources) and Plugged In Online (family-friendly entertainment reviews), Focus on the Family provides parents with tools and information to navigate the often rough waters encountered while raising a family.
