Humiliation is defined as the abasement of an individual’s pride through various mental, emotional and/or physical means. It creates a general sense of mortification and can sometimes lead to a person being humbled, reduced to lowliness or placed into submission. Because of its direct effects to the human psyche, it’s often used in bondage, dominance, sadism and masochism sex games. The emotions felt during humiliation can be produced through intimidation, physical abuse or mental mistreatment, but the main objective is to turn the object into a blubbering mess who can’t make a decision without your help or permission. And while that may seem cruel to some folks, there’s actually a large community of humiliation fans out there using ball gags, bits and other restrictive gear just to thoroughly embarrass their subs.
The endeavor may be quite cathartic for both dom and sub, but the search for adequate equipment usually isn’t. BDSM has only begun to scratch the surface of the mainstream, meaning the selection of appropriate products isn’t quite what it should be just yet. Meanwhile, innovative manufacturers have started introducing specialized humiliation products to an impatient market and we couldn’t be happier about it. The Scott Paul Designs brand “Service Kit” Humiliator Gag got my attention a few weeks ago and I’m pretty sure you’ll understand why here in a minute. For now, let’s make sure we’re all clear about the subject matter first.
What is the Service Kit Humiliator Gag?
The Service Kit is an ergonomic mouth bit that gets strapped to the wearers head for a specified amount of time. It can accommodate several different service attachments from the Scott Paul lineup, including the three that this particular kit comes with. The manufacturer offers more than a dozen attachment options to choose from, in fact. Finely crafted out of the world’s most luxurious materials, the SKH gag uses super-sturdy anodized aluminum and stainless-steel on the main components to provide superior security that’s ideal for both newbies and pros. This sleek and stylish bondage device can be locked or left open too, making it the perfect accessory for long runs of humiliation and/or short bursts of experimentation.
The Main Features
The original Humiliator Gag System featured strong, sturdy straps and stainless-steel hardware which made it a top selling sex toy in the years immediately following its introduction to the market. The Service Kit uses those same high-end components but now comes with even more customization options than before, including your choice of a black or white receiver tube, a buckle-style non-locking closure or a post and buckle locking mechanism, and a gag made out of luxury-grade leather or vegan PVC (polyvinyl chloride). To top it all off, this bad boy is available in four different kit styles just in case service isn’t quite your thing.
Each kit comes with the same great head SPD brand harness which offers a convenient place for your chosen attachment, and they all come with three related accessories too. The Service Kit itself offers three of the manufacturer’s most popular humiliation attachments (an ashtray, a feather duster, and a serving tray). Package B, which is lovingly called “The Powder Room Kit,” comes with a three unique attachments of its own (a toilet paper dispenser, a scrub brush, and a towel hook). There’s even a combo kit offered, albeit the most expensive option, which provides the consumer with everything from the Service Kit as well as a Click-a-Cuff restraint system for maximum humiliation. Overall, the Service Kit is the best option for BDSM newbies and/or pros who know exactly how to humble a sub.
What Comes in the Box?
Most of today’s best sex toy manufacturers create top-notch products that sometimes come with a freebie or two. However, that’s not always the case. Don’t get your panties in a wad because you have to buy extra parts and accessories for some of this stuff. There’s literally no other way to customize this kind of thing, so be prepared to spend a little more than the original cost of the device. As for the Scott Paul Humiliator Gag, here’s what you get for the money:
- The Original Scott Paul Humiliator Gag harness
- A serving tray attachment
- A feather duster attachment
- An ash tray attachment
- A set of care and maintenance instructions
You won’t find any lube samples or toy cleaning supplies in there, nor will you discover a manufacturer’s warranty or any special discounts for additional attachments. So while the device itself is ready to use right out of the box, I still feel like the marketing team could have done a better job of convincing me to buy a harness that requires so many extras. Then again, most of this brand’s attachments are relatively cheap so at least you won’t have to break the bank to have a good time.
The Experience
I first became interested in trying the Scott Paul Humiliator Service Kit because I saw the head harness comedically featured on the 2009 movie “Bruno” with the hilarious Sacha Baron Cohen. And since the SPD brand is well-known in my circle of friends as having the best BDSM products and the most versatile designs, I knew immediately that this thing would be mine as soon as I could afford it. The SK might be the most expensive humiliation harness on the planet, but I heard it works wonders with a wide variety of attachments and that those attachments are pretty affordable. Despite urgings from nosey, unenlightened family members against spending my money on such fodder, I whipped out my paycheck and handed about 1/3 of it over the Mr. Paul for his fancy humbling machine. I regret nothing.
The packaging wasn’t much to get excited about and nothing special came in the box, but I did get everything required to start putting my sub in his place as soon as he walked in the room. The harness itself was pretty easy to get on and adjust, plus I dug the overall stability of the clasps once they were fastened tightly. My slave wasn’t going anywhere, and I was about to be treated like royalty as I puffed on Cuban cigars all night using my human ashtray but that’s when all hell broke loose. I didn’t push the attachment into the receiver hole far enough, so the little bastard slipped out when I blunted my smoke and it damn near set my house on fire. I suggest making sure you hear a “click” sound before assuming shit like I did.
Next up was the feather duster and this time I triple checked the locking mechanism to ensure zero failures. I can say that once the attachment is properly placed inside the receiver hole it doesn’t budge an inch. Swapping out the attachments was super easy and required no tools or special skills whatsoever. I was happy with the Service Kit for the most part, but what ever happened to sexual service as part of the package? Couldn’t Scotty boy have included a dildo or vibrator for things like voyeurism, forced orgasms and climax denial? Those things might be in a completely different category in many respects, but I believe full and robust humiliation touches on every part of a slave’s psyche (including the ones that are attached to the physical). It’s pretty much my only complaint, and some would say it makes no sense.
The Ups and Downs
We all know that nothing is perfect, and the products on today’s sex toy market are no exception. It’s nearly impossible for any manufacturer to create a device that’s pleasing to everybody. At some point, you’ve got to learn how to take the good with the bad. When it comes to the Scott Paul Service Kit, here are the things I think you need to consider before spending any money:
PROS
- Comes with three popular humiliation attachments
- Fits all other attachments from the SPD brand
- Adjustable straps for a comfortable fit
- Components easily interchangeable
- Ideal for beginners and pros
- Compatible with all water-based lube types
- Made from skin-safe materials
CONS
- Somewhat expensive by comparison to similar products
- Can’t be used with any off-brand humiliation attachments
- May require special skills and techniques to use properly
The Takeaway
Although humiliation play makes up a very small percentage of the BDSM subculture, those who engage in it still want the best equipment possible. Humbling your sub takes skill, patience and the right methodology – all of which is supported by high-end devices like this, with the ergonomics and versatility you both want and need. The Scott Paul name is well-known in the industry because of the intuitive, innovative products that come out of it. And with the Service Kit Humiliator Gag being one of them, you already know it’s going to be a good time. So, while it may have been a bit more costly than what I was expecting and although it took some getting used to at first, I’d say that this bad boy deserves an honorary spot in any bondage enthusiast’s dungeon.
